  •   Application Manager Upgrade
    ETS upgraded the Application Manager production environment on 9/29/19. Please read the document here for more details.

  •   Service Outage
    The Banner production environments for Finance/HR, UNH and GSC Student will be unavailable due to system maintenance on Thursday, May 28th from 5AM to 7:30AM.

  •   Monday - 5/4/2020
    BPRD Workflow will not be available between 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, 05/04, while the server is being patched. Production (BPRD) Admin Pages and WISE will not be affected.

  •   Thursday - 10/31/2019
    BPRD Workflow will have a couple of parameters updated. Only Workflow in BPRD will be taken from 5:00pm to 5:30pm BPRD itself will remain up and available.

  •   VPN Upgrade
    Due to a just announced vulnerability, UNH IT will be performing an upgrade to the various VPN servers tonight and tomorrow. VPN availability may be intermittent between Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. This intermittent availability during the upgrade is the only anticipated user impact, no updates to the Pulse Secure client are involved.

  •   VPN Client Update June 11, 2019

  •   November 26,2018
    During the past several months it has become difficult for Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) to remain in compliance with industry standards associated with upgrades and patches. As a result, ETS is in need of more maintenance periods to properly support Enterprise Applications.

    Because of increasing cyber threats, servers, storage, operating systems, and applications are requiring more patches. Our security policy requires a 30-day turnaround for applying security related patches. In addition, our Application Vendors are releasing smaller, more frequent upgrades to address their functionality and currency issues.

    For these reasons, ETS is adding two additional maintenance windows; Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 6:00 AM until 8:00 AM. The Change Calendar (located at https://share.unh.edu/sites/cmm/Lists/Change_Calendar/All%20ChangesEvents%20with%20Details.aspx) will be updated and standard notification procedures will be utilized when patches are being applied during these windows.

  •   September 24, 2018
    FileZilla replaced by WinSCP
    The file transfer tool called FileZilla is replaced on the Gateway software download menu by WinSCP. FileZilla is no longer recommended for file transfers. If you use the File Transfer System (FTS) please read Using WinSCP with FTS

  •   September 20, 2018
    Some Enterprise Applications require the use of multi-factor authentication (MFA). To use MFA you must register with the SmartAuth application. We have added a link for the SmartAuth application to the bottom of the "Production Systems" menu on the USNH Gateway page. Those who use WISE have already registered with SmartAuth. To find out more about SmartAuth, for example, if you want to add another phone to your profile or find out how to use the SecureAuth app to streamline the entry of your code, click the link below:

  •   Notice for Enterprise Application Users: Firefox No Longer Supports Java Plugin
    With the release of Firefox 52 in March 2017, Java plug-in support has been dropped. Enterprise Technical Services supports and recommends Internet Explorer for all Enterprise Applications and does not support Firefox.

    As a courtesy, below is more information about Firefox ESR 52 32-bit that will support Java plug-in for another year.

  •   Windows 10
    Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) relies on our vendors to certify their applications with new versions of Windows and Internet Explorer. At this time, very few of our vendors support the Windows 10 operating system, but all of them support Internet Explorer 11. None of our applications support the Windows Edge browser. Our current versions of Banner will never support the Windows 10 operating system. Please see our support matrix here.

    Although ETS cannot guarantee our application will not have issues, many Enterprise Applications users have upgraded to Windows 10, using the IE 11 browser, without issue.

  •   Pulse VPN Client
    Version 5.3r4.1 of the Pulse VPN client will be pushed to Enterprise Application users beginning Tuesday, 1/16. On Monday, 1/22 5.3r4.1 will become the default VPN install when accessing the VPN.

  •   External Email
    Starting January 16th, 2018, messages sent from outside UNH will now be marked with red text that reads Caution - External Email in the top left of the email. Messages tagged Caution - External Email does not mean the email is malicious, only that recipients should take caution.   •   Pulse VPN Client Upgrade Notice
    As of March 1st users of the Pulse VPN client will be prompted to accept an upgrade. This is a minor upgrade featuring some performance and compatibility improvements, but no usability changes.

    Computers managed by Configuration Manager may be prompted before attempting to connect to the vpn. All others will be prompted on their next connection attempt. For more information click here.

  •   Java Management
    Please refer to the ETS Support Matrix on this page for currently supported Java versions, as they have recently have changed. UNH and GSC users can download an updated Java Management Tool here.

  •   New Login for WISE: Effective October 31, 2016
    The WISE Login will be switching from the current PIN based login to a Username and Password login as part of this upgrade. The details regarding the Username and Password to be used for logging into WISE will be available on this date.

  •   Sunday July 31
    On Sunday, July 31 the VPN will be unavailable from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM due to a server upgrade.

  •   Windows 10
    Enterprise Technology Services does not support Windows 10 at this time. All ETS hosted applications are being reviewed with respect to Windows 10 compatibility. Please refer to the ETS Support Matrix for updates.

  •   JRE 8
    UNH IT is now enforcing the use of JRE 8 in the Banner Student/Advancement, Banner Finance/HR and Kronos environments.

  •   FAMIS Downtime 3/31/16
    An upgrade to FAMIS is being installed Thursday afternoon, March 31st at 3:00 pm. FAMIS Desktop, FAMIS Self Service and the FAMIStoGO mobile app will be unavailable for approximately 6 hours while this work is being done.

  •   IE 11 and Java Management Tool Update
    For UNH Enterprise Application clients with the exception of FAMIS users, IE 11 and a new Java Management Tool are coming in early January. Please see this article for additional knowledgebase links and information.

  •   Windows 10
    On Wednesday, July 29 Microsoft is releasing Windows 10. Enterprise Applications are not certified by our vendors on Windows 10 so Enterprise Application users should not upgrade.

  •   Appman Downtime 3/9/16
    Appman Job Scheduling will be down on Thursday 3/10 from 6:15 AM until 7:00 AM due to work on the firewalls.

  •   Pulse VPN Client Upgrade Notice

  •   Internet Explorer 11
    Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) is not supported at this time for all Enterprise Applications. Please see the ETS Support Matrix linked from this page for supported versions.

  •   VPN Rebranding on Tuesday, July 28
    On Tuesday, July 28, after 6:30AM, users attempting to log into the UNH VPN will be prompted to update the Pulse application. Please follow the onscreen instructions. The UNH VPN will be rebranded from Junos Pulse to Pulse Secure. This change includes a new look for the icon and the application, though functionality remains the same.

    KSC users of the UNH VPN should consult their local support regarding upgrading the client.

  •   Java Management
    Banner Student Enterprise Applications users are installing Java Management now. For more information read http://signals.unh.edu/2014/10/28/java-management

  •   (JRE) Java Runtime Environment
    (JRE) Support Information

  •   Internet Explorer 11
    Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) is not supported at this time for Enterprise Applications, such as BANNER, Workflow, FAMIS, Kronos, Appman, Web Intelligence (WebI) and Xtender.

  •   Internet Explorer 9
    As of June 10, 2012, WebI is now certified to run with Internet Explorer 9.

    On Tuesday, March 15, 2012 Internet Explorer 9 (IE 9) was released. On Thursday, March 17, 2012 Microsoft announced they would push this new version to users via automatic updates, beginning March 21, 2012. IE 9 will only be pushed to Vista and Windows 7 clients. Enterprise Applications, such as BANNER, Workflow, FAMIS, Kronos, AppMan, and Xtender have not been certified, by their respective vendors to run with IE 9. If you are a Vista or Windows 7 user you should install the blocker utility. To install the blocker utility click here. This blocker should be installed by the end of the day on March 21, 2012. To install this blocker utility you must be an administrator on the desktop. Please call your campus Service Desk with any questions.

  •   System Downtime 8/4/13
    Banner Student/Advancement, Xtender and Workflow for Student, Banner Finance/HR, Xtender and Workflow for Finance/HR, Kronos, FAMIS, Application Manager, Application Express and WebIntelligence/BusinessObjects, Blackboard, Booklist, WISE, Webcat, WEBROCK, FAMIS self-service, InfoEd, Ad Astra, Team Dynamix, Sunapsis, FTS, Parent Portal, and eFACS will be unavailable from 2:00 AM until 8:00 AM on Sunday, August 4 for a firewall hardware upgrade.

  •   System Downtime 06/28/13
    Banner Student/Advancement, Xtender and Workflow for Student, Banner Finance/HR, Xtender and Workflow for Finance/HR, Kronos, FAMIS, Application Manager, Application Express and WebIntelligence/BusinessObjects, Blackboard, Booklist, WISE, Webcat, WEBROCK, FAMIS self-service, InfoEd, Ad Astra, Team Dynamix, Sunapsis, FTS, and Parent Portal will be unavailable from 6:00 AM until 10 AM on Sunday, July 28 for firewall maintenance.

    The firewall maintenance that was scheduled for this Sunday July 21st has been postponed.

  •   August 27th
    The Banner Forms environment (INB) has been updated with new java files. If you are receiving errors or warnings when launching Banner, please see the following instructions.

  •   Banner Finance/HR Forms Upgrade
    BANNER Finance/HR Forms was updated on Sunday, January 29th. Please see this document for potential problems you may experience and more information regarding the upgrade.

  •   Sunday, 2/12 at 10:00 PM until Monday, 2/13 at 5:00 AM
    The provider for USNH'S internet connection has scheduled maintenance on our internet connection for Sunday, 2/12 at 10:00 PM until Monday, 2/13 at 5:00 AM. During this time access to Enterprise Systems in UNH-Durham from off-campus will be slow or completely unavailable.

  •   System Downtime 11/20/11
    The WebIntelligence/BusinessObjects reporting environment will not be available on Sunday, November 20th from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm for system maintenance.

    Application Manager, the job scheduling system, will be unavailable on Sunday, November 20th from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM for system maintenance.

  •   USNH Enterprise VPN 10/24/11
    The USNH Enterprise VPN was upgraded to version 7.0 on Sunday, October 23, 2011.

    This upgrade requires installation of the Network Connect 7.0 client on computers that access the Enterprise VPN. The Network Connect installation should occur automatically upon logging in on Monday, October 24, 2011. Please ensure you are using Internet Explorer 8 while downloading and installing the Network Connect 7.0 client.

    If you encounter any problems installing the Network Connect 7.0 client or connecting to the Enterprise VPN, visit https://networking.unh.edu/ecgvpn for troubleshooting tips or contact the UNH IT Service Desk at 603-862-4242.

  •   System Downtime 10/23/11

    The USNH Enterprise VPN was upgraded to version 7.0 on Sunday, October 23, 2011.

    This upgrade requires installation of the Network Connect 7.0 client on computers that access the Enterprise VPN. The Network Connect installation should occur automatically upon logging in on Monday, October 24, 2011. Please ensure you are using Internet Explorer 8 while downloading and installing the Network Connect 7.0 client.

    If you encounter any problems installing the Network Connect 7.0 client or connecting to the Enterprise VPN, visit https://networking.unh.edu/ecgvpn for troubleshooting tips or contact the UNH IT Service Desk at 603-862-4242.

  •   System Downtime 10/23/11

    FAMIS, Remedy, Kronos and Parent Portal will be unavailable on Sunday, October 23 from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM for storage maintenance.

  •   JRE 6 Update 26

    PSU Users: ITS will perform this upgrade for you. Please contact the PSU Helpdesk if you have any questions.

    KSC and UNH Users: Please install using the instructions below and contact the UNH Service Desk at 862-4242 if you have any problems.

    Note: The JRE 6 Update 26 upgrade does not apply to KRONOS or FAMIS users. If you use KRONOS or FAMIS, do not upgrade your system to JRE 6 Update 26. You must remain at JRE 6 Update 17 for your applications to run correctly.


    Installation Instructions

    1. Click here to begin installation. Select "Run" when prompted (depending on your Operating System you may need to save the file and then double click the saved file to start the installation).


    2. If you are prompted by the User Account Control, click "Yes" to allow Java to make changes to your computer.


    3. Follow the Java Setup prompts to complete your installation.

  •   System Downtime 6/24/11
    The ApplicationXtender SAS production environment is being upgraded to AX 6.5 starting at the close of business on Friday, 6/24. Other system maintenance for ApplicationXtender will be done during this time. We anticipate Xtender to be unavailable for most of the weekend.

  •   System Downtime
    Application Manager will be unavailable on Sunday, June 12 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM for an upgrade.

  •   System Downtime
    Application Express, which includes Parent Portal, will be unavailable on Sunday, May 1 from 7:00 AM until noon for a software upgrade.

  •   March 25, 2011
    We are aware of certificate errors when logging into BANNER and Famis. If you receive these errors click the "Always trust content from this publisher box" and then click run to continue logging into Banner.

  •   UCR
    The UCR will be unavailable on Sunday, March 13 from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM for file maintenance. For those clients who use \\na2amber please use \\na4amber.unh.edu\ucr after March 13.

  •   Application Manager, UCR (User Content Repository) and FTS (File Transfer System) account applications are now available via the accounts page at http://it.unh.edu/accounts. If you need accounts for these services please apply via the accounts applications on the accounts page.

  •   JRE Upgrade
    All instances of Banner hosted by the Enterprise Computing group along with Kronos have been updated to enforce the use of JRE 6 Update 17 on client computers. Installation documentation including a link to manually download the updated JRE can be found here.

  •   System Downtime
    BANNER Student/Advancement, Workflow, Xtender, Parent Portal, WEBCAT, WEBROCK, BANNER Finance/HR, Xtender, Workflow, Crystal Reports, Kronos, InfoEd, Remedy, WebIntelligence Reports, FAMIS and Identity Management databases will be unavailable on Sunday, March 27 from 7:00 AM until 1:00 PM for storage maintenance.

  •   IE8
    The Enterprise Computing Group now supports Internet Explorer 8 for Banner, Workflow, Kronos, WebI and FamisXI. Internet Explorer 8 is not supported for Xtender.

  •   UCR Downtime
    The User Content Repository (UCR) will be unavailable on Sunday, March 13 from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM for file maintenance.

    Advancement, BANNER Student, Webcat, WEBROCK, Parent Portal, Workflow for Student and Xtender for Student will be unavailable Friday, February 11th,from 5:00 AM until 7:30 AM, for the installation of the Financial Aid 8.10 release and an Xtender patch.

  •   On Friday, January 21 FAMIS will be shutdown at 2:00 PM. A new version of FAMIS will be available on Monday, January 24 at 6:30 AM.

  •   System Downtime
    BANNER Student, Xtender and Workflow, BANNER Finance/HR, Xtender and Workflow, WebI Management Reporting, Kronos, InfoEd, Webcat, WEBROCK, WISE, Parent Portal, FAMIS, Blackboard, Crystal Reports, Remedy, Web Reports Server, User Content Repository, SFX and LDAP/SSO will be unavailable this Sunday, January 9 from 7:00 AM until noon for a network upgrade.

    BANNER Advancement, BANNER Student, Webcat, WEBROCK, Parent Portal, Workflow for Student and Xtender for Student will be unavailable Sunday, December 12 from 7:30 AM until 11:30 AM, for the installation of Financial Aid releases 8.9, 8.9.1, 8.9.1.1, Advancement 8.3.1 and three Xtender patches.

    BANNER Student/Advancement, Webcat, WEBROCK, Parent Portal, Workflow and Xtender for Student will be unavailable from Thursday 10/21 at 8:00 PM until approximately noon, on Monday October 25, for the BANNER 8 upgrade.

  •   Application Manager and BANNER job submission for BANNER Student/Advancement and BANNER Finance/HR will be unavailable on Sunday, October 17, from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM for operating system patches.

    On Thursday, August 5 the following Enterprise applications will be unavailable from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM so a critical software patch can be installed:

    Telecom will perform network switch maintenance on Sunday, July 25 from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM. The ECG VPN will not be available during this time.

    On Sunday, July 18 the following Enterprise applications will be unavailable from 7:00 AM until noon for storage maintenance:

    Banner Finance and HR (BPRD) will be unavailable on Thursday, July 15th, from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. for maintenance.

    Enterprise Computing will proceed with internal testing of JRE6u12 this week. Depending on the outcome of ECG's testing, the updated version of the JRE will be released for testing by the middle of next week. More information will follow with regards to installation information and a production release date.

  •   Roll Out of New JRE Version Delayed
    ECG will not proceed with the rollout of JRE6u10 that was planned for March 30. Recent testing of the updated JRE has uncovered a significant bug, resulting in a delayed rollout. An additional communication will follow next week where ECG will discuss which version of JRE will be deployed. This communication will also include steps users can take who have installed JRE6u10 and are frequently seeing the Java security warning related to the version of Java. (This Java security warning primarily impacts Xtender users who view documents with thumbnails on.) We apologize for this last minute change and understand this impacts many of our customers during a very busy time of year. We appreciate your partnership as we work through these issues.

  •   ECG Begins JRE6u10 Testing

    ECG will begin testing JRE6u10 with a small number of users March 3rd with the intention of going live March 30th.

    There a few items to be aware of during the test and go live phases.

    • In the past, we've relied on Banner to trigger the install of the new version of Java. Though this still works, the download and install process is very long. Because of this, we're going to recommend people download and install JRE6 manually. Details of how to do this will be made available to users before March 30th. In the past, we've communicated changes using an intercept web page when people launch Banner from the USNH Gateway page. This will likely be the communication mechanism. JRE6u10 along with the install documentation can be found on the Gateway page under Availability, Downloads & Support | Software Downloads | Java Runtime Environment:

    • Should older JRE clients be removed? Though we've often seen problems with Banner clients running older versions of Java, we're aware that some clients require older versions for other applications. Because of this we can't make a blanket recommendation to everyone to remove the older versions.


    • During the test phase, *some* users may receive a Java warning when going into production Banner stating the application would like to use an older version of Java. After the client acknowledges this, Banner runs normally. This will not be an issue when we go into production with JRE6.


  •   ECG Web VPN

    Please review this entire message as this is important.

    Microsoft released an unscheduled patch Thursday (10/23). This only occurs when Microsoft has identified a severe security problem. In this case, Microsoft Windows systems can be affected *without user action*, i.e. visiting a harmful website or opening an attachment in Email. Because of this, there is the potential of a worm quickly spreading. Although ECG Windows servers are largely protected because of where they are in the network, there is a possibility that client PCs may become infected and act as conduits to the servers. For this reason, ECG will be patching servers during lunch, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, today (10/24). This means that many ECG production services and applications will not be available from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm today.

  •   9iAS FIS\HRS Banner Implementation
    In November 2003, Oracle's 9i Application Server was put in place as a replacement to the existing front end of Banner for Finance and HR. This was required as a preliminary step to the implementation of Banner 6. Since the implementation of the new front end, some users have experienced ongoing problems with maintaining a connection to Banner. Please be aware we understand there is a problem and are testing fixes to address the situation. Please continue to report problems to the helpdesk with detailed descriptions as you experience them. Thank you for your ongoing patience regarding this issue. We expect to have a fix in place in the near future.


  •   All Banner Student databases will be unavailable on Sunday, January 18 for maintenance, beginning at 7a.m., for the entire day. The Oracle upgrade may potentially affect new connections to all other databases between 7-9am. The BANNER Unix cluster will be unavailable, Sunday, December 21 from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM for software maintenance.
  •   The FIS\HRS Banner forms environment has been upgraded to Oracle Forms 9iAS, Patch Set 13, as of 6:00 PM, Friday, November 14, 2003. The new forms environment includes a few changes from the existing OAS forms environment. Brief explanations on the notable differences can be found by following the "additional details" link on the HR and Finance Banner Gateway, home pages. Please note that existing bookmarks will need to be re-created.

    The grant billing testing that started in the BTST instance of Banner Finance on Tuesday is done and posting has resumed. Sleep/wake has been turned on and any transactions that you may have entered since Tuesday evening have now been posted.

    Please be aware that more grants testing will be conducted this Saturday, December 22, 2001 which will require posting to be down again on Saturday. You will still be able to enter documents in BTST on this day; however, the transactions will not be completed until posting is turned back on.

  •   Data Mart Update. 12/17
    The MR2 production data mart is being updated to access data from BPRD. Access to the development environment is available during this time frame.

  •   Data Mart Update.
    The MR2 production data mart is being updated this week to access data from BPRD. The production data mart will be available again on Monday, December 17th. In the interim, access to the development environment is available through WebIntelligence.

  •   Testing.
    Once again, we need your help! We are requesting that all hands be on deck Wednesday, December 12, 2001 for a follow-up full system testing of Banner Finance from 2:00 to 4:00, with an effort to have as many users on the system from 2:30 - 3:00.

    On December 3rd, more than 270 users signed onto Banner, as well as the VPN, and exercised the system by processing a variety of transactions. Your participation in this test was extremely valuable and we would like your assistance again on Wednesday. Since the major focus of our efforts on Wednesday will be to test approvals, we need participation from each area throughout the university system. The BSC directors and campus coordinators have been asked to recruit as many testers as possible. If you are able to participate in the testing on Wednesday please contact one of the following individuals:

    Information on approvals processing is available in the approval appendix distributed with the training materials and is also available on the FRESH Web site.

    Similar to the last test, the VPN will be turned on in the early morning and you will be required to log into the VPN prior to signing onto Banner. Detailed instructions and transactions to be processed in BTST will be sent to the BSC directors and campus coordinators prior to the test.

  •   A new name! We now have a new address for this page, www.usnhgateway.org which will become the preferred address. It was selected to represent the multi-Campus nature of this resource. Please note that it ends in ".org".
